Road, Rail and AirNorth Norfolk Railway is a steam-operated line, which winds its way through scenic countryside from Sherringham to Holt. The train has two former ‘Brighton Belle’ Pullman restaurant coaches that are now refurbished traditional dining cars. Norfolk has a variety of quiet country lanes and grand tree-lined avenues. On the Holkham Estate there is a dramatic mile long oak lined stretch of road with a gatehouse at one end and a tall stone obelisk at the other. Norwich International Airport on the outskirts of the city has a museum with aircraft on show.

Factories and WarehousesNorfolk is largely agricultural and grain silos and flourmills can be found across the county, often in riverside settings. Smoke houses and oysteries still exist along the coast. There are industrial estates on the outskirts of Kings Lynn, Norwich and Great Yarmouth including Hi-Tech sugar beet processinf factories to empty Victorian warehouses.

Public BuildingsThere is a fine range of public buildings in Norfolk, from medieval timbered guildhalls to contemporary public spaces. Kings Lynn has a 17th century quayside customs house and several well-preserved medieval merchant’s houses and assembly rooms. The Forum in Norwich is a modern steel and glass space in the centre of the city. Close by is the Royal Arcade, a fine example of Art Nouveau architecture. The Sainsbury’s Centre for Visual Art is a striking modern structure of glass and steel, resembling a giant aircraft hanger and overlooking the artificial lake at the University of East Anglia (UEA).

Local AttractionsThe Dinosaur Park is one of the world’s largest collections of life size dinosaurs spread through out acres of woodland. There is a fine collection in North Norfolk of over one hundred and fifty military vehicles including working tanks and armoured cars. Vintage merry-go-rounds and fairground attractions are on display within various collections around the county.
